Ribes viburnifolium

(Catalina Currant)  This Ribes is unique for the genus, it is evergreen and low growing. Attractive 3' tall and 6' wide form shrub has dark green foliage with a waxy shine. Aromatic leaves on dark red stems. Small deep-pink star-shaped flowers appear late winter to mid spring, followed by small red fruits later in the spring. Enjoys part to full shade. Works well under native trees, such as Oaks. Drought tolerant once established. Tolerates clay soil. Attracts hummers! Deer resistant.
