Phytolacca clavigera

Shrubby perennial to about 3-4’ tall with bold, handsome foliage, striking upright spikes of purple-pink flowers in summer are followed by interesting, tightly packed clusters of showy, segmented, back, shiny berries on hot pink stems. One of our most popular ‘Waz that?!’ plants! Easy to grow in sun to part shade, enjoys a decent garden soil with regular dry season moisture. This toxic plant is deer and critter resistant. We grow it successfully in a large pot, where it blooms and berries.
