Malvaviscus arboreus

(TURK’S CAP) Large vivid red flowers summer > fall with long stamens protruding from their tightly clasped petals on shrubby plants 4-5’ tall and wide. Attracts butterflies, bees and hummers! Sun to part shade (in hot areas), moist well drained soil preferred. We cut ours back 50% in spring after the last frost to keep it compact.
