Heliconia schiedeana

(Hardy Lobster Claw) Upright stalks 6-8’ tall with elongated leaf blades (musa-like). If the plant is protected from freezing, beautiful tropical June flowers, yellow framed by showy red bracts, resemble parrot beaks (or lobster claws, take your pick). Protect like you would a non-hardy banana if you want flowers (worth it!). Light shade, rich moist soil.
