Empimedium ‘Red Maximum’

Newer cultivar from Belgium, compact, clump forming, slow spreading perennial with ovate, spiny-toothed semi-evergreen foliage that is flushed red in spring and autumn; mid-spring flowers are in loose sprays on thin, wiry stems, deep burgundy with long, spidery spurs dipped in white. 8”- 12” in height spreading to 30”.  Decent soil, best watered when dry, AM sun to moderate shade.
