Cormous perennial that sends up strappy foliage in spring that is dormant by summer with naked blooms in fall – vibrant red-purple petals with heavy checkering surrounding bright white throats 4-6” high, late September, 1900’s heirloom. Thrives in sun in well-drained soil, appreciates moisture during growth and bloom periods, fine with dry during summer dormancy. Deer/critter resistant. All parts are toxic.
