Clematis heracleifolia

 You won’t recognize this as a Clematis… it’s an expanding clump perennial with stems about 30” tall and give it at least 4-5’ for girth.  The foliage is rather coarse in texture but attractive and dense.  The stems are adorned with pretty, lightly fragrant, blue tubular flower clusters in late summer and followed by handsome silver, ‘sea anemone’ flower heads that last a long time.  Blooms best in sun but ok in part shade, enjoys moist soil.  Nice middle of the border plant; deer resistant and black walnut tolerant.
