Preferred Genus of gardening connoisseurs everywhere, this exotic Cobra Lily from Japan is a collector’s pride in a woodland garden. Each tuber sends up a fleshy pink 12-18” spear in spring that expands into two glossy leaves split into three leaflets, followed by a ‘hoodie’ flower with green and purple striping surrounding a light-yellow spadix. Flowers evolve into red berry spikes. Plants dormant by summer, best left undisturbed once planted. Moist, humus rich, well drained soils in part to full shade is this beauty’s sweet spot. Shipped as a bareroot tuber during dormancy and as a potted plant during active growth period.
