Sanguinaria canadensis

(Bloodroot) Gorgeous woodland perennial native to the east coast that spreads via rhizomes in rich, moist soil…6-10” tall stems crowned with beautiful white 2” wide flowers with yellow stamens March>April.  This is the single flower form, much harder to find than the double form.  Mass in shaded woodland areas and let naturalize. Part to full shade, prefers well drained humusy soils, tolerant of dry shade.
