Serratula tinctoria ssp. seoanei
Low, perennial clumps of dark greeny-purpled, ferny foliage topped by clusters of small, pretty mauve lavender thistle-y flowers with thin filaments that make it look ethereal August thru November. Yes, I know when I say ‘thistle’ you think ‘weed’ …not so! A sweet, rare, late-blooming little beauty for sun, well drained, acidic soil and regular water. About 12″ tall, relaxing out to 24″ wide.
